Some notes on the latest Pokémon Presents (which I totally did not stumble upon by random chance on YouTube when looking for a video to watch while having lunch 😆):
- in case it’s not clear from the previous post 😆, I think that gadget that looks like an original GameBoy and plays the music from the original Red and Blue versions is kinda unnecessary and a play on nostalgia. Personally, I don’t see any reason at all to buy it when you can listen to remix versions or beautiful symphonic arrangements or piano renditions… but that’s just me 😄.
- I like the names of the next generation games: Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves. Can’t believe they haven’t been used till now.
- The event in San Francisco with the pop-up Pokémon Center looks nifty, but I don’t know if it’d be better to go there or save for a trip to Japan and go to the permanent Pokémon Centers (and then take the chance and visit so many other things while there)
- I didn’t care much about the other things 😅. Just leave me with my fangames and I’ll be happy 😄.

I like the gist of this because it kinda is what I was doing for the two seasonal newsletters I ran: toss any interesting things I came across into a (digital) bin, and then when the time came to actually write a new issue of the newsletter, I started sorting and picking. And it worked (b’-’)b

i have really great news guys, despite it all
to everyone reblogging this and saying that you’re the exception, or this will never apply to you, you are not alone. back when I made that first text post I felt the same way. but something I realized in between the first half and second half of this post is that it starts with you. it starts with wanting to be done with the misery. it is so much easier to give in to whatever mental health issues you’re dealing with, especially in a world that is built against us. however it is so worth it to not give in. it is so worth it to do things that make you feel good even though it can feel impossible to start. it’s so worth it to fail at something because at least it means you tried.
getting yourself out of the hole is hard, and can feel damn near impossible at your lowest. but it isn’t impossible. i am living proof of this. nobody is responsible for your emotions but you, and if you want to be happy, you have to create your happiness. do whatever you can to surround yourself with joy. not hedonism, but actual joy. accomplishments, good relationships, engagement in healthy hobbies and habits. it can be hard, there’s no denying it, i still struggle myself sometimes. the reward is so worth it. feeling like you’re the best version of yourself is so worth it.
to quote the queen kali uchis: i know it’s hard, but did you even really try?
Ask yourself: do you really want to not live at all, or do you not want to live the life you currently feel trapped in? Do you simply see no other realistic option? It is not a choice between eternal suffering and death.
That is not to say that things aren’t bad where you are now- odds are, your distress is valid, and things are horrible to get you to this point. But the odds also are that you DO want to live! And keep holding on, because things will never get the chance to change if you don’t live to see it!
Things are really scary and dangerous right now, but what the powers that be WANT us to do is give up. Find a reason to keep living- even if it is simply out of spite. Find something to look forward to, no matter how small: a game or movie coming out, petting more cats/dogs/other animals, anything that helps you keep going.

July 2025 life update
The end of June marked my first three months in my current job, the first half of which were mostly spent learning and getting accustomed to my team’s way of working; this second half we have already started taking on more tasks, starting with simple ones and slowly but steadily taking on more complex ones. Still relying on the more senior members of the team, hopefully less so as time passes.

the worst part of “you’ll understand when you’re older” is that you really do understand when you’re older
The second worst part is, once you get older, you find yourself saying “you’ll understand when you’re older” with Full Comprehension of how fucking annoying you’re being right now, but also knowing that it’s all you can say.
I literally had a conversation in this vein with my dad today, talking about how when I was younger I thought people saying “I always think of you as [young age], it’s so strange to see you all grown up!” were saying it the same way you say “doing good” when someone says “hi, how are you?” and then.
And then. I had to start prepping for my younger niece’s bat mitzvah.
And it’s so strange to imagine her standing on a bimah in a tallit for the first time with her hair done and painted toenails in a pair of new high-heeled shoes, because wasn’t it just last week she waved at me and said “byebye” and I lost my damn mind because it was her first word and she said it to me? How is she thirteen? It’s a clerical error, right? ….right…? What do you mean her sister is graduating next year? She was just in kindergarten!
And then it hit me. I sound just like my mother’s friends.
And then. I had to
start prepping for my younger

May 2025 life update
I started working at the very start of April, which marks my return to the workforce after the two years (and change) of academic sabbatical to complete my master’s degree, and I find myself surprisingly content to be back to a 9-to-5 routine, even though I still struggle with waking up early 😅. Maybe it’s the stability of routine, or the change of pace from the academic / student life, or the fact that I have a salary again after a long while.
