Besides being visually stunning, I always find adaptations interesting because I like seeing how someone translates a story from one medium to another.

Some of my favorite parts:

• One that I found surprisingly resonating with me is when Odysseus is finally ready to leave Calypso, and she tells him:

You’re a man who needs to control his fate. But you cannot control this. You must give yourself to the storm, give yourself to Poseidon. And take your punishment. Give up the fight, give up control and live. It is a leap of faith you haven’t yet made, Odysseus.

For someone who finds leaps of faith challenging, this hit close to home.

• Everyone is complaining (and rightfully so) about the things Nolan left out, but I’m just happy he didn’t leave out the story of Argos 🥲 (the only other cinematic adaptation I’ve seen, the one from 1997 with Arman Assante, did not include it)
